We spent 3 days in Sydney but honestly I think you really only need 2. We were supposed to do 4 days here but the week before I decided to visit Melbourne for a day and I am so happy I did. You can read more on why here.
What We Did Day 1: Bondi Beach and Ferry to Manly Our first day in Sydney we visited the infamous Bondi Beach. Here you can watch the surfers The beach is absolutely gorgeous! Be sure to check out Bondi Icebergs Club where the swimming pool meets the ocean, they even have a kiddy pool. There are plenty of shops and restaurants across from the beach. We took the train to Bondi Junction and caught the bus straight to the beach, it is a free transfer.

In the evening we took the ferry from Circular Quay to Manly which is supposed to have one of the best sunset views in Sydney...unfortunately we missed it by 6 minutes. There is a nice pedestrian only street lined with shops and restaurants before getting to the beach. There are penguins by the water right next to the ferry station. Day 2: Blue Mountain Tour We did out tour through Sightseeing Tours Australia. The Blue Deluxe Mountain tour was a full day tour for $125AUD, about $90USD at the time. We started the day visiting Featherdale Wildlife Park which was one of the highlights of the tour. There are free roaming Kangaroos, you can take a picture with a Koala (they allow you to take some with your cell phone and not have to pay for the professional ones), and see Wombats, Dingoes and Penguins.
Afterwards you head to a small town where you can have lunch, not included in the tour. We decided to eat at Loaves and Dishes where most of the group got Kangaroo Burgers. the tour goes to Echo Point where you can view the Three Sisters and see a view which is considered as the Grand Canyon of Australia.
The last stop of the tour is at Scenic World where you can get various views of The Blue Mountains by a cable car that goes above the Three Sisters, a railway, and a skyway. You are then dropped off to Olympic Park where you take the ferry back to the city and you can get off at Darling Harbour or Circular Quay.
Day 3: Darling Harbour and Circular Quay On our final day in Sydney we spent the day around Darling Harbour and Circular Quay. This is where you will find the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. You can actually climb the Harbour Bridge, like on the arch, but there is no way in hell my nerves could take that, I am terrified of heights. I believe the cost is $200 for that. At the Opera House you can take a guided tour or walk around a little bit yourself. We could have definitely everything we did today on Day 1 when we went to Manly as you take the ferry from Circular Quay to get there but we wouldn't have had much else to do this day. You can take a day trip to Hunter Valley, the Napa of Australia but we weren't really interested in wine tasting as all but 2 people in our group had been to Napa already.
Where We Stayed
We stayed in an Airbnb in Edgecliff. It was right in front of the train station so a good location to get around town. The train station had a grocery store as well as some places to get food. How We Got Around We took the train, bus, or ferry everywhere. A car was not necessary at all. You can even take the train from the airport, it's called the Airport Link and it's very easy to take. You just put money on your Opal card, the cost is based on the distance you travel On Sundays it is "Family Day" and the max your Opal card will be charged is $2.50 so this is a good day to go to Manly if you will be there on a Sunday.
