The Traveling Child is a family travel blog ran by myself, Monet Hambrick, mother of two girls, Jordyn and Kennedy. When I was pregnant with my first child I heard so many times that my wanderlust ways would have come to an end once Jordyn, our first child, was born. I knew that could not be my life and that my husband and I would want to continue traveling with our kids in tow. Many parents think it’s impossible to travel with children so I started The Traveling Child, created to inspire parents to explore the world with their kids while providing tips to make it easier.
Everything found on my blog is based on my personal experiences. My oldest had her first flight at 8 weeks, my youngest at 11 days old. They both had their first passport stamps before hitting 8 months. For me when planning family vacations there is no such thing as a destination that is not kid friendly, my motto is "If kids live there, kids can visit." As much fun as Disney World is I want my kids to experience more. I love that at 2 Jordyn has learned that there are so many different types of people in the world. She knows about different modes of transportation, different foods (she is far from a picky eater), adversity, seeing how people are willing to help in difficult situations and so much more. I know travel is making a positive impact on her personality, outlook on the world and even her behavior. At 10 months Kennedy has already been to 3 continents, 3 countries, and 3 states. She adapts to new environments quickly and doesn’t fuss about much as she’s used to being out and about. Vacationing with a whole family has the potential to be very costly discouraging families from even considering traveling together.
